Prototyping & Process Development
Foster Rush offers a comprehensive suite of process development and prototyping services for the electronic ceramic component industry. These services are performed at a fully equipped laboratory that features a class 10,000 clean room housing a pilot line of multilayer device fabrication equipment. The multilayer laboratory along with materials characterization and testing is staffed in cooperation with the Center for Advanced Ceramic Technology at Alfred University.
Some of the features of the multilayer laboratory are:
- Raw material selection and tape casting formulation development
- Doctor blade coating on PET carrier film, 10-100 micron cast thickness range
- 8 tool computer-controlled punch for vias and cavities
- Vision aligned screen printing and stacking
- Isostatic lamination
- Automated cutting machine, carbide blade guillotine type
A partial listing of prototype devices that have been successfully fabricated for our clients are:
- Multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCC), precious metal and base metal types
- Multilayer chip fuses
- Micro actuators
- Stacked plate linear actuators
- Multilayer piezoelectric transducers
- Sensors
- Multilayer chip inductors and filters
